Green Places
Living in enviromentally conscious times means we are realising the impact our travel choices have on the environment and the local communities we visit. As a personal travel planner, I talk to more and more people about green travel.
But where do you start when looking for green options? This ‘Green Places’ page lists some of my favourite ‘green’ travel and lifestyle sites to help you on your way.
Green Travel
Responsible Travel is the world’s first dedicated travel agent for responsible holidays. With over 300 tour operators and 600 villas, lodges, B&Bs and small hotels, it’s the largest online selection of responsible holidays. What I like about this site are the extensive reviews. Also, remember to check out their Special Offers page.
Voted as “The leading British website for eco travel” by The Times 2009, GreenTraveller is a fantastic guide to eco-friendly places to stay, low impact trips and holidays that genuinely benefit conservation and local communities.
A thought-provoking site, Make Travel Fair publishes educational, engaging and inspirational travel articles to help us learn more about the impact on the world and to encourage travel as a means of education.
Ionian Eco Villagers is a collection of locally owned villas, apartments and cottages in Gerakas, in the south-eastern tip of Zakynthos island, Greece. Managed by Yannis Vardakastanis, an ardent conservationist who grew up on Gerakas, Ionian Eco Villagers provides a quieter, more tranquil alternative, away from the mass tourist resorts. Green Lifestyle
Green People specialises in organic body and skin care products. I love their range of natural products, all free from SLS, parabens, phthalates, lanolin and artificial fragrances.
